Hearing Disorders - Types
Conductive hearing loss
This is due to injury or problems with the bones, eardrum or membranes which transmit sound from the external and middle ear to the inner ear. This type of loss can be usually overcome by medication or surgery.
Sensorineural hearing loss
This is caused by the deterioration of the inner ear or the auditory nerves. In this case hearing – aids are often the only solution available.
Mixed hearing loss
This type of hearing loss is caused by a combination of both.
